Don’t Ignore Your Floors!

Often times, we’re prompted to look up as we walk; not only outdoors but indoors as well. We’re told the most important views are on and between the four walls in a any space.

But what about the floors?

More than marble or hardwood, flooring with inspiring patterns and details can create an extra dimension that may serve to tie the space together after your renovation. Depending on your tastes, your design may very well begin from the bottom up so to speak; sparked by a beautiful floor treatment you know you’ll be delighted to step onto for years to come. It’s easy to let floors take a backseat in your renovation plans, but it’s important to keep it top of mind so you can create a truly unique space. Don’t be afraid to let this be the part of the room that stands out the most when planning your custom renovations.

From mosaic tiles, treated and untreated wood, laminate, and vinyl with patterned detailing to intricately woven rugs and carpets and even glass, the possibilities are endless when it comes to eye-catching and visually interesting flooring options. Keep an open mind to any of these options when deciding on finishes for your space, picking up on subtle elements that already exist in the room so it all works together. Be sure to choose an option that makes sense for the space you’re working with. Natural brick finishes like may look lovely in general, but likely won’t work well in a bathroom. Glass flooring may be visually appealing, but may be a bad idea for an area with heavy foot traffic.

Whatever you decide for your home renovation keep in mind that, just like ceilings, floors should not be ignored when planning a room and deciding on a brand new look for a space you love.
