Designer Sit Down: Jin Kim

Welcome to our Designer Sit Down series where we interview the Georgian design team so you can get to know more about their process, inspirations and general musings! In our first instalment we asked Jin Kim, Georgian’s design manager, a few questions about her work.

What is one best piece of advice you can give to homeowners before they begin their home renovations?
Kim: Educate yourself about what’s out there, what’s new, even though you hired an interior designer. You still need to know what to ask and look for but enjoy the process.

What is your creative process when designing interiors?
Kim: I will visit the client’s property to get inspired or identify problems. Getting inspirational images to communicate with the client, start doing layout sketches and select materials. As for my responsibilities as the design manager, I manage the design team. I’ll overlook what they’re producing and improve the quality of it. Improving the quality of a design starts with the smallest details.

What is the best part about being an interior designer?
Kim: Getting to know a lot of people from different backgrounds. Also, the fact that my doodling gets to be built into reality!

Our designers are the foundation at Georgian as they are committed to synthesizing good design with good business from conception to completion. Stay tuned on the Georgian blog for more upcoming interviews with our design team.
